How can I save the text of messages in a file?

Select the messages, and use the menu command:

Message | Save Text As..

If you need to save messages, including the message header and attachments, in RFC-822 format, use the command:

Message | Save As..

Or, if you need to save each message in a separate file, use the command:

Message | Export to Separate Message Files..
